Community

Services

We’re here to help if we can. From navigating government paperwork and accessing the internet, to information sessions, community gatherings and adult education — our services are designed to promote social inclusion, reduce isolation and support everyday life.

We also provide a physical space where people can meet, work on projects, and participate in the life of the community. We may also be able to assist with referrals to other services and programs in the region.

Child & Family Health

A drop in service for caregivers and their children aged up to school age. Facilitated by a Maternal and Child Health Nurse and Child and Family Support Officer. This service is run by the Surf Coast Shire. Please contact them directly for information.

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service is a free health and wellbeing service available for all families with children from birth to school age. We provide education, information and support to families on a range of topics, including infant feeding and growth, physical health, play and development, mental health and family violence.  We can also connect families with playgroups and other activities, and refer on to other health and wellbeing specialists in our region.

For new babies, your hospital or midwife will advise us of the birth, and we’ll reach out and offer you and your family a home visit.  After that, you can come and see us at your local MCH centre.

Appointments are scheduled at 10 key ages and stages in a child’s development. Additional appointments are also available when you or your child need them.

You can read more about the MCH Service and what to expect at appointments here.

To book an appointment at any of our centres, please call 5261 0549, or fill out an enquiry form and someone from our term will contact you.

Auspicing

Auspicing is a process where an established organisation takes legal and financial responsibility for a project or group that doesn’t yet have formal standing — allowing them to apply for grants, receive donations and enter contracts.

Winchelsea Community House can act as an auspice for eligible community projects, lending credibility and structure to initiatives that align with our mission. If you have an idea but aren’t sure how to get it off the ground formally, get in touch and let’s talk.
